I had a very elaborate dream in which I, playing me, uncovered some sort of nuclear terrorism plot which peripherally involved my circles, and I gathered evidence about it before going to the authorities; but instead of stopping it, they decided to let it happen, while for some reason setting me up as some kind of controllable god-hero (like a pharaoh) for helping to save the 'right' people. The dream starts out as kind of an espionage story as my past self starts to figure out that someone's going to set off a bomb in a place I'm going to be; it later turns into a series of flashbacks in which it becomes clear that I'm being set up, interspersed with 'present-day' moments where I'm being shown regal deference which may or may not be genuine. The key moment, near the end of the dream, is when I'm trying to get the authorities to take me seriously about what I know is going to happen, and instead they truck me out to some remote site to show me what is essentially a pyramid being built, some of its sculpture based on my work...

Sep. 29th, 2004 12:33 pmI've encountered my first 'oh you don't have a pay stub so obviously you can't pay for this apartment even though you've got a mountain of cash' landlord, and am wondering why I'm bothering to fill out this application. Might as well do it just to make the effort.
Oh, and the 'in case of personal emergency' part is so that if they find you dead in your apartment, they know who to call to cart away all your junk.

Sep. 29th, 2004 01:07 pmUp until recently, my plant has sprouted progressively; that is to say, a branch grows some leaves, then the next leaves sprout from the center of those, then the next from the center of those, and so on. However, today I was watering it, and I noticed that leaves are sprouting all along the bottom of one of the stems, in contradiction to all previous behavior. Does anyone have an idea why it's suddenly doing this?

Sep. 29th, 2004 10:08 pmI was listening to classic rock on the car radio while I looked at apartments today, and I thought to myself, "You know, it'd be okay if Prickvixen was like Styx. Largely forgotten by the mainstream, but a favorite of classic rock stations. I'd be okay with that."
Have you ever wondered what kind of civilization there'll be in a thousand years, when everything we think is so urgent is just a historical curiosity?
