This last weekend I paid about $40 for a tiny flashlight with a mounting bracket, also known as a 'bicycle headlamp,' because I want to keep cops from pulling me over and saying 'You don't have a headlight' and then fining me more than the cost of the bicycle, 'for my own good.' So to illustrate how fantastically effective this device is, I wish to tell you a completely true story.

I'm in my driveway, clipping on the bike light, getting ready to use it for the very first time. I pull out of the driveway and go up the street. Before I get to the corner, this car comes around it, makes a left turn across my path and almost runs me over. Hooray for safety devices.
