So I followed a link to this article, since I guess I wanted to be angry and discontented this weekend; and a phrase from it struck me: 'rational moral values.' This is used by a conservative group ('American Vision') to describe their hatred of gays. I don't know, I found it an interesting choice of words. It brings to mind all those charts and diagrams the Nazis concocted to demonstrate 'scientifically' that Jews and gypsies and Slavs were lower forms of life. We're not just mindless bigots, we're rational, and queer-hating is a rational view to hold... anyone who doesn't feel this way is mentally defective. Elsewhere in the article, the editor-in-chief of WorldNetDaily speaks of a need to 'purge' the conservative movement of ideologically weak members. Just in case there's any doubt where the American conservative movement is coming from and what their aims are.
