Oct. 19th, 2005 10:07 pmThe really good record store around here, Compact Disc Warehouse, is closing. I'm a little sad about this... and I feel worse about it the more I think about it. Some of you know the place. Despite the name, it's an independent store and has pretty much been the place for alternative music around here. I've been going there since I first blew into town years ago, and most of my CD collection was purchased there. I discovered tons of groups there, like practically everything I listen to. It's been here forever. I moved out of town several times, and whenever I came back it was here waiting, and wherever I went, I compared every other music store to it. It's going to be this void, not having it around anymore.
I also feel a little guilty that I haven't shopped there more often lately, but I just haven't had the disposable cash to buy records.
So when I do have that kind of dough again, my local options are Streetlight (rife with assholes, and surprisingly devoid of anything I'd actually want despite its indie image), Rasputin (truly vast selection, but like wading through a junkyard in terms of accessibility), or chain stores (for what reason?). yay.
