yours in jesus christ

Today I wanted to find out where the Church of Christ, Scientist in Glendale was. I read about it and saw some pictures, and it has really nice interior architecture, so I wanted to see it myself.

I looked in the Yellow Pages for the address...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but most of these are basically subdivisions of Christianity, aren't they?

I think back to when I was in college and some newly-minted fundamentalist friends of mine were trying to convert me, and what comes to mind is, "If you can't agree among yourselves how God should be worshipped and how his words should be interpreted, why should I buy into this? Get back to me when you've settled upon something."

Our local church of Christian Science (may not be the same thing) is located a block from my house. It's the closest church actually. It resides at the corner of the block where located is the primary foot-traffic intersection of the local high school. It's cornered on that block of land by the large sprawl of SRI (Stanford Research International).

Yes. Christianity seems to be a very fragmented religion, doesn't it?

Today at work, someone asked me if I happened to know which way Catholics do the big-chest-cross thing - is it throat-tummy-left shoulder-right shoulder, or throat-tummy-right shoulder-left shoulder? My response was, of course, along the lines of "How should I know? I'm agnostic." But I think which way you do it does make a difference, and can indicate which flavor of Christianity you adhere to.
