dream

While walking down a neighborhood street on a hill, I was appoached by a white fox coming the other way. I thought this was odd, because foxes do not normally approach men. He led me to a gap in the hedge running along the sidewalk. Within was his mate, also a white fox. She was wounded, savaged by some vicious creature, possibly a dog. The meat of her haunches had been eaten away, and her left eye was just a groove in the side of her head. She also implored to me, dying as she was, to bring help. So I wandered the streets, looking for someone who could help. But I was loath to call 911 and make a fuss and be ridiculed, and none of the cars that went by seemed suitable enough. I saw a police car and tried to wave it down, but it seemed to detour deliberately around the street I was on. So there I was, immobilized by my own hesitation and indecision.

You have the most grotesque but beautiful dreams.

Grotesque, certainly. I'm not sure what's beautiful about this particular one. Poor fox.

...the only response I can think of to that dream is to want to hug you. It seems like it was an unpleasant one to have on several levels.

*hug*
