"played-out meme is played-out"? Yeah, pretty much. I vaguely loathed that construct the first time I saw it, and it's become ubiquitous enough to come out of my mouth once or twice. I never felt good about that.
I'm afraid we're probably stuck with it. Sophistication comes and goes but infantile behavior tends to really stick with our culture and that pattern is child-speak.
